About Cabo Raj Bhavan / Governors Palace
The Official Residence of the Governor of the State of Goa, known as "Raj Bhavan". Cabo Raj Bhavan also known as the Governor's Palace. Raj Bhavan is also known as Government House. In year 1540, Raj Bhavan was built. During that time this building was called the 'Palacio de Cabo' by the Portuguese. Since 1917, this grand mansion has three official designations such as "Palácio do Cabo", "Cabo Raj Niwas", "Goa Raj Bhavan" of the Governors of Goa.
Architecture of Cabo Raj Bhavan :
This building has the historical and architectural significance. The ground floor of the Palace includes office chamber and The Residence of His Excellency the Governor, and some guest rooms. Darbal hall, banquet hall, conference hall, the main kitchen, and few guest suites and rooms are situated on the first floor of this palace. The corner of the Raj Bhavan, there is a chapel situated, it believed that this chapel was about 500 years old. This chapel is dedicated to Nossa Senhora Do Cabo, the virgin lady of the cape.
This rooms and Darbal hall are decorated with the old and beautiful antique items of decorative beauty and intrinsic quality such as Chinese Porcelain objects of art and Bohemian glass Chandeliers. The construction was completed within the period of six months.
Main Attraction : A feast that is celebrated here on 15th August every year is main attraction. This feast is celebrated in honor of Chapel of Virgin Mary. During this time a big fair is also held.
Other Near By Tourist attraction : "Our Lady of Cabo Church" is also another tourist destination near Cabo Raj Bhavan. It was the 500 years old church.
