Curd Toovar Dal

^ Preparation Time : 15 Minutes. ^ Cooking Time : 30 Minutes. ^  Serves 4. ^ Soaking Time : 2 to 3 hours.


दही तूवर दाल

Ingredients (सामग्री)


Toovar Dal (अरहर दाल) ---------- 1/2 Cup

Turmeric Powder (हल्दी पाउडर) ---------- 1/2 smallspoon

Salt (नमक) ---------- To taste 

Oil (तेल) ---------- 1 tablespoon 

Cumin Seeds (जीरा) ---------- 1 smallspoon

Thinly Sliced Onions (बारीक कटा हुआ प्याज) ---------- 1/2 Cup

Red Chilli Powder (लाल मिर्च पाउडर) ---------- 1 smallspoon

Coriander Powder (धनिया पाउडर) ---------- 2 smallspoon

Cumin Seeds Powder (जीरा पाउडर) ---------- 1 smallspoon

Gram Flour (बेसन) ---------- 1/2 smallspoon and mixed with 1/2 cup water (पानी)

Curds (दही) ---------- 1/2 Cup

Finely Chopped Coriander (बारीक़ कटा धनिया) ---------- 2 tablespoon 


How to make Curd Toovar Dal (दही तूवर दाल बनाने की विधि)


-> First washed the Toovar Dal (अरहर दाल) and soak it in water (पानी) for 2 to 3 hours. Drain and keep aside. (अरहर दाल को पानी में भिगो कर रखे और बाद में पानी निकाल कर दाल को अलग रखे)


-> Take the Toovar Dal (अरहर दाल) into pressure cooker and add Turmeric Powder (हल्दी पाउडर) + Salt (नमक) + 1 1/2 cup water (पानी) and cook it for 2 whistles. (अरहर दाल + हल्दी पाउडर + नमक + पानी को प्रेशर कुकर में पका ले)


-> When the pressure of the cooker it removed then whisk the dal (दाल) and keep aside. (प्रेशर खत्म होने पर दाल को चलाये और अलग रखे)


-> Now heat the Oil (तेल) in deep non- stick Pan. When Oil (तेल) became hot then add Cumin Seeds (जीरा) and fry it till they crackle. After you add Thinly Sliced Onions (बारीक कटा हुआ प्याज) and cooked it until Onions (प्याज) turn to golden brown in color. (तेल + जीरा  + प्याज को फ्राई करे)


-> After you add cooked dal (पकी हुई दाल) + Red Chilli Powder (लाल मिर्च पाउडर) + Coriander Powder (धनिया पाउडर) + Cumin Seeds Powder (जीरा पाउडर) + Salt (नमक) and fried it for 1 minute on medium flame gas. (इसमें पकी हुई दाल + लाल मिर्च पाउडर  + धनिया पाउडर  + जीरा पाउडर  + नमक  मिला कर पकाये)


-> Now you add Gram Flour Solution (बेसन का घोल) + Curds (दही) and mixed very well and cooked it on slow flame gas for 5 - 6 minute and stirring continuously. (अब इसमें बेसन का घोल + दही डाल कर दाल को पकाये)


-> Curd Toovar Dal (दही तूवर दाल) is ready. Garnished it with Finely Chopped Coriander (बारीक़ कटा धनिया). (बारीक़ कटे धनिये से सजाये)


Nutritional value (पोषण का महत्व) :  Calcium : 60.4 mg per serving


Note : Curds provide a tangy twist to toovar dal without adding much to the calorie count yet increasing calcium levels ! This dal tastes amazing with steaming hot rice and subzi.
