Alappuzha is a district of state of Kerala in India.. Alappuzha city is the administrative headquarters of Alappuzha District.
Geography of Alappuzha
Alappuzha district has an 1,414 Sq.Km. which constitutes 3.64% of the total state area. Alappuzha district is bouded by Kochi and Kanayannur Taluks of Ernakulam district on north side, Kunnathur and Karunagappally of Kollam District by the south side, Vaikom, Kottayam and Changanassery Taluks of Kottayam district and
Thiruvalla, Kozhencherry and Adoor taluks of Pathanamthitta District to the east side, Lakshadweep ( Arabian ) sea to west side.

Longitude of Alappuzha city : 76 deg 17' 30" and 76 deg 40' East
About Alappuzha District
It was formed as Alleppey District on August 17, 1957. The name of the district was officially changed to Alappuzha in 1990. Famous Chettikulangara temple is at Mavelikkara in Alappuzha district. Arthunkal church and Edathuva church are famous Christian worship centres in the district.

In the South side it is the Pathanamthitta District, while on the North side it is bound by Trichur and Coimbatore Districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu States respectively.
