Dibrugarh is an administrative district in the state of Assam in India. Dibrugarh is the district headquarters.

Geography of Dibrugarh
Dibrugarh district covers the 3381 SQ. KM. area. Dibrugarh district is bounded by Dhemaji district on the North side, Tinsukia district on the East side, Tirap district of Arunachal district on the South-East  side and Sibsagar district on the North and South-West side. This district covers a total area of 3381 sq kms.

Latitude of Dibrugarh city :  27 deg 5' 38'' N to 27 deg 42' 30'' N
Longitude of Dibrugarh city :  94 deg 33' 46'' E to 95 deg 29'8'' E

About Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh district derived its name from Dibarumukh. The name derived from the mouth(mukh) of the river Dibaru or Dibru (Bodo word dibru, a blister) during the reign of Suhungmung, Pharsengmung Borgohain, Chao Siulung, Kilong fought against the Chutiya king who was defeated in the battle and surrendered before the Ahom King.

Communities inhabiting the Dibrugarh district are Ahoms, Chutiya, Muttock, Tea tribes, Sonowal Kacharis,  Moran etc. There are also some Tai speaking Buddhist communities like Tai-Phake, Khamti and Khamyang.

Economy of Dibrugarh District
In Dibrugarh District there is two major industries, Oil & Natural Gas and Tea Production.Tea plantations and tea industries surround the entire region. Interestingly, some of the tea gardens of this district are over 100 years old. Some people is engaged in rice, sugar-cane, pulses, and fish farming.
