Giridih district is a district of Jharkhand state, India, and Giridih is the administrative headquarters of this district.
Geography of Giridih
Giridih district is bounded on the north side by Jamui and some part of Nawada district of bihar, on the south side by Bokaro and some part of Dhanbad district, on the east side by the districts of Dhanbad, Jamtara and Deoghar and on the west side by Hazaribag and Kodarma district. Total area of the Giridih district is 4853.56 sq kms.

About Giridih District
On 6th December 1972, Giridih district was created by carving some parts of Hazaribagh district. The famous Parasnath hill(the SAMMED SHIKHAR JEE) is situated here. The famous G.T. Road also passes through this district.
Giridih is a centre of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI).
Giridih is also one of the six Data Processing Centres of Data Processing Division (DPD) of National Sample Survey Office (NSSO).
