Gumla district covers the 5327 Sq. KM area.Geographically, Gumla is located on southern part of the Chota Nagpur plateau which forms the eastern edge of the Deccan plateau system.Gumla is covered by dense forests, hills and rivers.
Main Rivers : Tthree main rivers North Koyel , South Koyel and Sankh. Sankh River emerges from Rajadera village of Chainpur block.
