Jammu is a district of state Jammu and Kashmir.

Geography of Jammu

Jammu district covers the 3097 Sq Kms area.Jammu district shares its borders with Udhampur District in the north and north-east side, Kathua District in the east and south-east side, Sialkot (in Pakistan) in the west side, and Rajouri and Bhimber (Azad Jammu and Kashmir) in the north-west side.

About Jammu District

Jammu  district  derives  its name from the city of  Jammu  which besides being  the winter capital of the state, is known as  the city  of  temples. Major attraction as Maa Vaishno Devi which is located around 50 km from Jammu City. There are other temples with historical importance which add to the rich heritage of Jammu. It is the third most highly populated district of the Valley after district Srinagar and Baramulla
