Geographical area of the district is 5,039 sq. km.Lalitpur district is bounded by Jhansi district of UP in the north, Sagar in the south, Tikamgarh and Chhatarpur districts in the east and Shivpuri and Guna districts of Madhya Pradesh in the west.
Betwa River forms the northern and western boundary of the district and Jamni River, a tributary of the Betwa, forms the eastern boundary , Dhasan River forms the district's southeastern boundary and the southeastern portion of the district lies within its watershed.
