Tamenglong district is inhabited by majority Zeliangrong Naga tribe ( comprising of Rongmei,Pumei , Liangmei, Zemei ) and Kukis, besides minority Hmars, Chirus and Khasis. Racially or physically and linguistically Zeliangrongs are Tibeto-Burman (Indo-Mongoloid) of Sino-Tibetan family of the Mongolian race.
