Tawang district is a administrative districts of Arunachal Pradesh in northeastern India.

Geography of Tawang

Tawang district covers the 2085 Sq. Km. area. Tawang district is bounded on north side by China (Tibet Province), on south side by Assam state, on east side by West Kameng District of Arunchal Pradesh and on South west side by Bhutan.

Latitude of Tawang city :  27º 45’ N
Longitude of Tawang city : 90º 15’ E

About Tawang district

Tawang Origin is obscure. It was a part of the kingdom of Tibet in medieval times. Local tribal rulers governed it from time to time. The British had declared this area as off-limits in 1873. The area around Tawang became a cause of disagreement between India and China, after India gained independence in 1947.

Tawang is the hidden paradise on earth. Perched on ridges and surrounded by thick forests the district has majestic monasteries, lakes and distinct hamlets. Some worth visiting sites are yet to be explored.

Soils of Tawang district
1. Rocky and loamy skeletal texture with soil depth shallow to medium.
2. Sandy skeletal, Loamy, Fine loamy textured with soil depth medium to deep.

Art & Craft in Tawang district
Zarku : It is a ladle made of wood for serving meal.
Wooden Mask : It is generally used in the religious masked dance performed during Torgya festival in the courtyard of the Monastery.
Dolom : It is artistically designed eating bowl with lid made of wood.
Zan-Shanpu : It is also well made of wood used for kneading floour.
TokTse and Tun : It is a pestle and mortar made of wood used for pounding paddy rice.
Zan-Gya : Used for preparing flour paste called ZAN .This is also a staple food of the Monpa tribe.
Sheng-Khlem : It is a spoon made of wood.
Gruk : It is a cup made of wood used for serving tea.

Culture of Tawang District
Aji Lhamu dance, Yak dance, Lion & Peacock dance are the main Traditional Dances of Tawang  district. Majong, Archery, Pongor and Sho (Dice) are the main Traditional games.

Upper Subansiri is an administrative district in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in India. The district headquarters are located at Daporijo. Geography of Upper Subansiri Upper Subansiri is bounded in the north side by McMohan line bordering Tibet, in the south side by part of Lower Subansiri and part of West Siang districts, in the east side by West Siang district, and in the west side by Lower Subansiri district. Upper Subansiri district covers the 7000 Sq. Kms.area. Latitude of Upper Subansiri city :  27 deg 45 m..
