There are many cheap and affordable means of transportation in India that are available almost everywhere and anytime. Mostly people in India use the large network of railways and roadways in India. Buses : Buses are the cheapest mode of local transport in India. In india almost every city having a well-developed system of buses. It is best to enquire the routes before boarding a bus. It cover long distances in a short time.
Metro Rail : In India all major cities have a well-planned metro rail network. Metro is not available all through in India. Calcutta has the oldest network of metro in India. Delhi have a pretty good system of metro rail. In NCR regions like Noida & Gurgaon also have extensive metro system plans in the pipeline. In Mumbai metro system is under construction. It is one of the best and fast transport system in India.
Auto Rickshaws : An autorickshaw is also called auto or rickshaw or tempo or a three-wheeler. This is a small vehicle and has no doors or seatbelts. Auto color is a combination of green and yellow or black and yellow. If you hire an auto, try to go by the meter. If it is not possible then fix the fare in advance.
Taxis/Cabs : Taxis/Cabs is also another transport mode in India. You can hire the Taxis/Cabs from taxi stands strewn across the major cities.When you hire the Taxis then make sure that the taxi-driver goes by the meter. If you have any problem with the taxi-driver, then you complaint with the traffic police.
Cycle Rickshaws : Cycle Rickshaws is also another mode of transport. It is used for to cover the short distance. It is a quite cheap mode, especially for traveling short distances. It is like a bigger tricycle in which two people can sit on an elevated seat at the back and driver will pedal from the front portion. The rickshaw pullers charge a nominal amount for their service.
