Karumadikuttan is a Buddhist center in Alleppey. Main attraction of this place is statue of Lord Gautham Budhha in a sitting position.
Location : Karumadikuttan is a small village and located at Alappuzha in Kerala.
Karumadikuttan is known for the black granite statue of Lord Buddha. Here you see the sitting Buddha statue that is 11th century B.C. It is a different type of stupas and remnants of Buddhist heritage. It assumed that this black granite structure is to be old as far as 9th to 14th century and is now a place of worship. Devotees come to worship the statue and the place is called Karumadikuttan temple.
This is the only Buddhist temple in Kerala and the only remnant proving the existence of Buddhism in Kerala. Today, it is the living symbol of an ancient civilization that followed Buddhism in Kerala.
