Krishnapuram Palace is a historical building and renowned tourist attraction of Alappuzha. This is a palace and museum is maintained by the Archaeological Department of Kerala.

About Krishnapuram Palace
Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma was built the Krishnapuram Palace in the 18th century, in the Travancore kingdom. This palace is renowned for its architecture and wall paintings. The palace itself was built to showcase the traditional style of architecture native to the land. The architecture style of Krishnapuram Palace has the glimpse of Kerala style with gabled roofs, pent roofs, narrow corridor and dormer windows. At present time the Palace has three tall storeys and the compound of this palace is a houses of number of buildings which combining various architectural styles from the west and the east.
This palace is famous for its mural paintings as well as its architecture. One of the biggest mural paintings in all of Kerala is located here. The titled of mural painting is 'Gajendra Moksham'. The length of this paintaing is 154 square feet.
Krishnapuram Palace also has a museum that is also located within the palace. In this museum you see the bronzes, coins, wood sculptures, megalithic remains, stone and copies of mural paintings. In this museum you also see the double edged Kayamkulam Vaal (sword).This palace is surrounded by lawns , by fountains and ponds.
Near By tourist attraction : Krishnaswamy Temple at Krishnapuram is also another tourist attraction near this palace. Nearby by this palace there is a garden which has a large variety of plants. A statue of Buddha has been constructed recently and is called as the Buddha Mandapam.
