Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple is one of the acclaimed and pious shrine for Alleppey People.

About Temple
Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple is dedicated to the Serpent God, Nagaraja.It is believed that the GOD Nagaraja installed here is an artistic form of Hari (Lord Vishnu) and the spirit of Lord Shiva. It is very ancient and internationally-known centre of pilgrimage for the devotees of serpent gods. Here you can also see the shrines for 'Sarpa Yakshi' and 'Naga Yakshi', the beloved consorts of Nagaraja. You can also see the Nagaraja Sister Nagachamundi. Brahmin family is maintained the serpent shrine. The presiding deity is worshipped primarily for fertility in women she is better known as 'Valia amma' (The great mother). Main rituals of the temple are presided over by this priestess. Some of the offerings made are serpent cave made of gold, ornaments, different kinds of vessels, fruits, milk, turmeric etc. A special turmeric paste which is available at the temple is credited with curative powers.
This temple is surrounded by about 16 acres of thick green forest. As you tread through, you will see rows of stone sculptures of serpents – an astounding 30,000 of them. The main temple has two main sanctums, one for Sarpayakshi and the other for Nagaraja.
Legend about this temple : An incarnation of Lord Vishnu Lord Parasurama, has personally blessed this temple.
Facility : In this temple the treatment for snake poison and rat poison is rendered.
Festival : Mannarsala Aayilyam is the main Temple Festival and celebrated by with grate joy and complacency. This festival is celebrated on months of Kanni and Thulam (September and October).
