In year 1864 the construction of this church began and in year 1866 it was completed. But this church recorded history anchored in the 1500's. After the church popularity, it had to be reconstructed in year 1864. Official name name of this church is Arthunkal St. Andrew's Forane Church. It is also known as Arthinkal church. This is the first Parish of the Diocese of Alleppey has been elevated to the status of Basilica on 9 July 2010.
Scottish officers and their families was originally constructed this church. This church is a Scottish Presbyterian Church. St. Andrews Church is a houses an influential pipe organ which was installed in 1881, but still sounds great. Pipe organ is known for the music produced from playing this instrument. Many devotees came here by walk along the beach.
