Thodeekulam Siva Temple or Thodeekalam Siva Temple is renowned for its murals with seem to belong to the middle stage of Kerala mural custom perhaps of the 10th-13th century A.D. The temple attracts not just a number of devotees, but also art lovers and it is a famous Hindu temples in Kerala. Presiding deity of this temple is Lord Shiva in form of Sivalinga that facing East. The key offerings of the temples are ‘Shankabhishekam’, ‘Sarpabali’ , ‘Pushpanjali’ and ‘Dhara’. Inside temple is decorated the various painting of Lord Siva and various paintings of different gods and goddesses.
The state Archaeology Department is declared this temple as protected monument in year 1993. It is strongly associated with Pazhassi Raja family of Kottayam.
Thodeekulam Siva Temple has been build more than 2000 years ago. The wall of the Garbhagriha of this Temple is of laterite with plaster coating on which mural scenes are painted that illustrating various stories of Indian mythology and epics. Sanctum sanctorum walls are decorated with more than 150 murals in an area of 700 sq ft.
Rituals Time : When temple is open the Nada Thurakkal are performed at 5:30 a.m and ends with Athazha Pooja at 7:45 pm
