Tomato Rasam

^ Preparation Time : 10 Minutes. ^ Cooking Time : 20 Minutes. ^  Serves 4 

टोमेटो रसम

Ingredients for Rasam Masala (रसम मसाला के लिए सामग्री)

Split red lentils (मसूर दाल) ---------- 1 tablespoon

Split Bengal gram (चना दाल) ---------- 1/2 tablespoon

Coriander seeds (धनिया बीज) ---------- 1 smallspoon

Whole Dry Kashmiri Red Chillies (साबुत सूखी कश्मीरी लाल मिर्च) ---------- 3

Pepper (काली मिर्च) ---------- 5 to 6 

Cumin Seeds (जीरा) ---------- 1/4 smallspoon

Curry leaves (कड़ी पत्ता) ---------- 4 to 6

Other Ingredients (अन्य सामग्री)

Toovar Dal (अरहर दाल) ---------- 2 tablespoon

Tomato Pulp (टमाटर का गूदा) ---------- 1/4 Cup

Roughly Chopped tomatoes (मोटे तौर पर कटा हुआ टमाटर) ---------- 3 tablespoon

Tamarind water (इमली का पानी) ---------- 1/4 Cup

Turmeric Powder (हल्दी पाउडर) ---------- 1 pinch

Salt (नमक) ---------- To taste

Oil (तेल) ---------- 2 tablespoon  

Mustard seeds (सरसों के बीज) ---------- 1/4 smallspoon

Curry leaves (कड़ी पत्ता) ---------- 3 to 4 

Asafoetida (हींग) ---------- 1/4 smallspoon

Chopped Coriander (कटी हुई धनिया) ---------- 2 tablespoon

How to make Tomato Rasam (टोमेटो रसम बनाने की विधि)

For the Rasam Masala

-> First take the Split red lentils (मसूर दाल) + Split Bengal gram (चना दाल) +  Coriander seeds (धनिया बीज) + Whole Dry Kashmiri Red Chillies (साबुत सूखी कश्मीरी लाल मिर्च) + Pepper (काली मिर्च) + Cumin Seeds (जीरा) + Curry leaves (कड़ी पत्ता) mixed it. (मसूर दाल + चना दाल + धनिया बीज + कश्मीरी लाल मिर्च + काली मिर्च + जीरा + कड़ी पत्ता को मिला ले)

-> Now heat a non-stick pan and dry roast all the Ingredients on a slow flame for 5 to 7 minutes or till the flavor releases. (इस सब को गरम तवे पर भुन ले)

-> When cool the Ingredients then blend in a mixer to a fine powder and keep aside.(ठंडा कर के मसालों को मिक्सी में पीस ले)

How to proceed

-> First take the Toovar Dal (अरहर दाल) + 1 cup water (पानी) in a pressure cooker and cooked it until cooker get the 3 to 4 whistles. (अरहर दाल + पानी को कुकर में पका ले)

-> When the pressure of the cooker it remove then open the lid and whisk it thoroughly and bring to boil. (कुकर का प्रेशर ख़तम होने पर दाल को हिलाए)

-> Now you add Tomato Pulp (टमाटर का गूदा) + Tamarind water (इमली का पानी) + Turmeric Powder (हल्दी पाउडर) + Salt (नमक), mix well and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, whiles stirring continuously. (दाल में टमाटर का गूदा + इमली का पानी + हल्दी पाउडर + नमक मिला कर पकाये)

-> Now you add rasam Masala (रसम मसाला) and 3 cup of water, mix well and cooked it for 5 - 6 minute. Keep aside. (अब इसमें रसम मसाला + पानी मिला कर पकाये)

-> For tempering (तड़के) take Other pan and heat the Oil (तेल). When Oil (तेल) became hot then add Mustard seeds (सरसों के बीज) and fried it. When Mustard seeds (सरसों के बीज) are crackle the add Curry leaves (कड़ी पत्ता) + Asafoetida (हींग) and fried it for few minute. (तड़के के लिये तेल + सरसों के बीज + कड़ी पत्ता + हींग को फ्राई करे)

-> Now pour this tempering (तड़के) over the rasam, mix well and simmer for another 1 minute. (इस तड़के को रसम के ऊपर से डाले और मिलाये)

-> Tomato Rasam (टोमेटो रसम ) is ready. Garnished it with Chopped Coriander (कटी हुई धनिया) (कटी हुई धनिया से सजाये)

Nutritional value (पोषण का महत्व) :  Vitamin A : 243.5 mcg per Serving

                              Folic Acid : 19.1 per serving

Note : Tomato rasam , a perfect, low calorie recipe to enjoy the true flavors of home - made south Indian cooking. Tomatoes are bountiful of vitamin A, folic acid and an antioxidant compound 'lycopene' that fights against free radicals and helps boost immunity.
