Vembanad Lake is one of the beautiful tourist place near Alleppey. Vembanad Lake is the largest and longest lake in the state of Kerala. This lake lies at sea level, and is separated from the Arabian Sea by a narrow barrier island. Many rivers are flow into the lake, including the Achenkovil, Meenachilaru, Manimala, Pamba, Muvattupuzha and Periyar.
Vembanad Lake is known by different name in different regions. Such as Punnamada Lake in Kuttanad, Kochi Lake in Kochi. Vembanad Lake is also known as Vembanad Kayal or Vembanad Kol.
